Chairman; Hugo P. Pomrehn, PhD Mr. Pomrehn's career began with the Bechtel Corporation in 1967, where he served as Assistant Chief Nuclear and Environmental Systems Engineer, Project Engineer on the Marsden B fossil fuel plant in New Zealand, and Project Manager of the Korean Nuclear projects, before becoming Vice President and Manager of Bechtel's Los Angeles Office. In 1992 he was nominated by President G.H.W. Bush to the office of Undersecretary of Energy, serving under Admiral (ret.) James Watkins, where he was responsible for the Department of Energy's technical management and field operations, as well as environmental, safety, and health issues. He was also part of the team that help legislate the first-ever Energy Policy Act of 1992. He later served as Senior Vice President of PLG, Inc., an engineering and management consulting company which specializes in risk assessment, before becoming Chairman of Stayhealthy.Com, Inc. and has senior management positions with other consulting and startup companies. Mr. Pomrehn earned his B.S. in Mechanical Engineering in 1960, his M.S. in industrial engineering in 1968, and his PhD in engineering in 1975, all from University of Southern California (USC). He also earned a M.S.E. in mechanical engineering from George Washington University in 1965, and a Certificate from the Bettis Reactor Engineering School in 1963. Mr. Pomrehn is active in the American Nuclear Society and American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and is a Registered Professional Mechanical and Nuclear Engineer in the State of California.
Stephen C. Cowper Mr. Cowper is Chairman of Wescorp Energy Inc., Calgary Alberta. Mr. Cowper is an attorney with over 15 years of civil legislative experience for the State of Alaska having also served as Governor from 1986 to 1990. During his public tenure he served as Chairman of the House Finance Committee; Chairman of the Alaska Lands Committee; State Lobbyist on Federal Land Use Policy; Board of Trustees Chairman for the $29 Billion Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation; and Chairman of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. He was instrumental in transforming a chronic state deficit to a $500 million surplus. He managed the Exxon Valdez oil spill crisis and successfully lobbied the U.S. Congress for major oil-spill legislation. Following his term in office Stephen was President and acting Executive Director of the Northern Forum, an international association of 22 northern regional governments from 10 countries working with Russian regional governments to establish a fair division of resource revenues, transportation technology transfers and environmental monitoring. He is currently Managing Partner of Steve Cowper & Associates specializing in political analysis and public sector policy for governments and private companies. Stephen has a B.A. in History and an LLB in Law from the University of North Carolina; an honorary doctorate in laws from Kyung Hee University, Seoul, Korea; the President's Public Service Award from the Nature Conservancy; and has served in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve.
Frederick Rumack Mr. Rumack is a tax and employee benefits lawyer with a national reputation. He is admitted to practice in the State of New York and is also a long time investor in the energy business, including oil and gas projects and an ethanol plant. Mr. Rumack is a Graduate of Queens College, N. Y. with a major in history/economics, a Graduate of Brooklyn Law School with a Juris Doctor Degree (J.D.), and Graduate of NYU School of Law with a Masters Degree (LLM in taxation). His work experience includes 3-1/2 years with New York Life General Counsel's office. Mr. Rumack has over 30 years employment with Buck Consultants, Inc., a world wide actuarial and benefit consulting firm, in their Tax and Legal Department. At that firm Mr. Rumack functioned as Director of the Tax and Legal Services and Research. He also served on its Board of Directors for over 12 years. He is currently still working with Buck Consultants, although the firm has changed ownership twice, in 1997 and in 2005.
Pat V. Sonti Mr. Sonti has a distinguished career with experience gained at Bechtel Power Corporation, Los Angeles, CA, Rotoflow Corporation (now part of GE Oil & Gas), Los Angeles, CA, and The Ralph M. Parsons Company, Los Angeles, CA. He has worked on major fossil and nuclear power projects, hydrocarbon and petrochemical projects worldwide, including multiple mega enhanced oil recovery (EOR) projects on the North Slope of Alaska for the consortium of Exxon-BP-ARCO. He was the Principal Engineer overseeing the state-of-the-art turbo-compression and gas re-injection projects. Mr. Sonti was the lead person at the energy consulting firm, ERG LLC where he assisted many global energy majors on their worldwide projects in LNG, power, oil & gas, renewable and alternate energy. Mr. Sonti has a B.S. degree in Chemical Engineering from University of Southern California (USC).
Joseph T. Sorenson Mr. Sorenson has experience in helping to set up businesses from the ground floor, implementing business plans and setting budgets for various departments. He has experience in developing and producing products that meet customer specifications. His business experience includes planning and overseeing commercial / residential building construction and the governmental approval process. Philanthropic interests include experience in providing funding for various charities. Mr. Sorenson has been involved in several family related businesses, including his current position as Member Manager Principal of Sorenson Associates, a company that has planned and developed Sorenson Research Park, a 180 acre office building park. Mr. Sorenson has an accounting degree from LDS Business College, Salt Lake City, UT.
